Update: A 15-year-old male is in custody following a shooting in Oshawa, with a 26-year-old male victim hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The police have charged the young individual with 11 offences and are seeking public assistance for further information or footage related to the incident.

Durham Regional Police Celebrate 50 Years of Service with Community Engagement Events

The Durham Regional Police are celebrating a significant milestone this year, their 50th anniversary, marking half a century of dedicated service and commitment to the community. This landmark occasion is not just a reflection of their unwavering dedication but also a celebration of the enduring partnership with the residents of Durham.

Over these five decades, the Durham Regional Police have been instrumental in fostering safety and promoting the well-being of the community. Their journey has been characterized by a deep-seated commitment to protect and serve, a principle that has been the cornerstone of their operations.

In honor of this anniversary, the Durham Regional Police have launched a special microsite, 50th.drps.ca/home, which serves as a digital gateway to explore the rich history and significant milestones of the force. Additionally, they are inviting community members to share their own stories and experiences from the past 50 years, which can be submitted via email to [email protected].

The celebrations extend beyond the digital realm, with a special Community Event scheduled for June 15 at Iroquois Park in Whitby. This event is designed not only to honor the police force's history but also to foster community engagement and connection.
