Whitby Announces Holiday Schedule for Town Services and Facilities

A photo of my Filofax Original Nude in personal size for my Instagram page. Planning, in order to be productive, is very important to me and I find that it would be important for most professionals to use a similar system in order to free up headspace, to be more calm and less busy.

As the holiday season approaches, residents of Whitby should take note of the following changes in town amenities and services:

Holiday Service Changes:

Town Hall and the Garden Street Branch will close their in-person and phone services at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, December 22, and will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 28.

Recreation Facilities:

The Whitby Civic Recreation Complex Health Club and pool will remain open until 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 24. However, all other indoor recreation facilities in the town will be closed on December 24, reopening on Wednesday, December 27.

The 55+ Recreation Centre will also be closed on Wednesday, December 27.

Whitby Public Library:

All Whitby Public Library locations will be closed on Sunday, December 24, and will reopen on Thursday, December 28. Though closed, book returns will remain open and digital content and program information will be accessible at whitbylibrary.ca.

New Year’s Facility Closures:

The Whitby Civic Recreation Complex and Iroquois Park Sports Centre will close early on Sunday, December 31, at 12:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. respectively.

All Whitby Public Library locations will be closed on Sunday, December 31, and Monday, January 1.

All Town Facilities will be closed on Monday, January 1.

Waste Collection:

There will be no waste collection services on Monday, December 25, or Monday, January 1. Residents are advised to place their garbage, green bin organics, and blue boxes out one day after their regular pick-up day.

Christmas Tree Collection:

Christmas Trees will be collected in blue collection areas from January 15 to 19 and in yellow collection areas from January 22 to 26. Residents are reminded to remove all decorations and cut trees longer than 3 meters in half. Trees frozen in snowbanks cannot be collected.

Residents can confirm their collection pick-up day by checking the waste collection calendar, downloading the Whitby Waste Buddy app, or visiting whitby.ca/Waste.
